Someone suggested using shellac. If you prefer more natural substance (as I
do), you may want to try using egg white. I have not tried it yet, but I
remember reading something about sealing envelop so that it can't be opened.

I don't know if you are able to achieve this with the tape, some pigments
might leak under. I think if you want to achieve the bordering effect, you
would want to mask the negative.
