Metal and platinum

The hooha (my spell checker choked on this one) probably has to do with the
fact that the metal will cause platinum or palladium to plate out, thus
losing valuble printing material. This is even problematic as it takes heat
and some period of time to plate out. I have some tests run by Phil "Beyond
the Zone System" Davis in which he coated a piece of paper with a rusty
nail and got a decent dMax. I've used a flat sable brush with a metal
ferrule with no ill effects.
