Presentation of alt. prints

I recently moved, and, while hanging my Pd. prints thought what a shame it is
that the glass creates a reflection, where one of the greatest qualities of
Pd/Pt prints (and for that matter, most all of the alt. processes) is their
unique tactile quaility. Sure, glass creates a certain museum mystique--a
hermetic seal both physically and psychologically--but that feeling of
'seperateness' that the silly slice of glass creates acts as a barrier between
the viewer and the paper in the case of the gemlike Pd. print.

So I'm thinking of removing the glass. . .but I have reservations about the
vunerablity of the print just out there in the open for all sorts of accidents
to befall it, not to mention the addition of atmospheric/photo contaminants.
Does anyone have similiar experiences our alternitive ways of displaying alt.
prints, or other feelings regarding the presentation of alt. photographs and how
they simulate or differ from 'standard' photos?

P.S. I use metal frames and want to continue to do so.
