In a message dated 96-10-20 23:48:50 EDT, you write:

I will from now on look for bulbs that say neither "energy saving unit" or
"low power factor"

Much appreciated

I may of posted this before but perhaps it's worth repeating. The bulbs all
have 180 degree internal reflectors so no light is lost going away from the
print. They are instant on, and instant color temp. This means there is no
change in exposure times. Especially when you add a metro-lux unit. It
measurers light quantity not exposure times. For people who are building
their own units there are no bulbs or ballasts out there that can compare
with these for speed or life of the unit.

Part # fr30t12-03-vho
They have internal reflector
My light box has 16 3 ft. bulbs and 4 ballasts
The bulbs are as close together as possible-perhaps 1/8 inch apart makes
changing them difficult. But I"ve never had to change one.
The coverage (exposure area) is about 24x34 inches
The bulbs are 2 1/4 inch above the print
For 2 ft. Units same ballast the bulb is:
2 FT. FR20T12 SUPER ACTINIC VHO 20.00 75 WATT

For those of you who do not want to make your own Edwards Engineered Products
512-267-4274 make an 11X14 unit for $375.00, 14X16 unit for $475.00 and an
18X20 unit for $600.00. Although they don't look great- you really need to
sand and finish them- they do work very well, although not anywhere as fast
as the above as they use standard UV tubes and ballasts. But over all a very
good little units!

Enjoy
