Today I successfully coated a large sheet (34 x 45") with an even matrix
emulsion. I had been waiting for the flat aluminum plate and motorizing
parts, and I have been using it for the past week. Coating thickness
uniformity is good, with no voids, bubbles, etc. Even though it seems
imtimidating at first, mixing the emulsion is no more difficult than making
an apple pie. Once the coating technique is mastered, the coating process
is pretty automatic. I am using more emulsion than I was expecting, so the
materials costs are closer to $ 15.00 It takes about 10 minutes of labor to
coat a sheet of film. If you are interested in coating your own film,
please contact me off-list.
