John told me some years ago that he was trying to produce his own version of the
Fresson process.
Later I was given to understand that he was having some difficulty in getting
the materials to behave as he wanted them to.
About two years ago I saw an experimental version on a gallery wall. This was
still so limited in tonal range that it was difficult to discern
an image.
Earlier this year I saw later versions where the darkest tones were dark greys
and the lightest tones, light greys. Certainly an improvement.
I do not know the basis for John's process but the improvement I mentioned above
would justify his scanning one of his images of Malta onto a home page so that
we can see for ourselves.
If John were to explain the difficulties that I perceived in his obtaining a
full range of tones someone on the list might be able to help.
