I've taken a little different approach for getting from paper to
phosphor. I make copy slides of my prints, then have the copy slides
scanned onto PhotoCD. I then use Photoshop to reproduce as closely
as possible the tonality of the original prints. I agree, as most
would on this list, that there is nothing like the real thing baby.
However, to me the Image is as important as the surface/tactile/etc.
qualities of the original print. The Web allows worldwide
distribution of one's images and provides at least a hint of what
they look like on paper. A compromise, to be sure, but for my money,
a good one.
