I use acetone because I use Potassium Bichromate which will precipitate out with

No. I have never had that problem. I coat with a 2 inch wide foam brush. I
give it
one coat, wait until the surface becomes dull, then another coat, and let it dry
in absolute darkness with a small fan circulating warm air around it. I do
have a problem
in that some grainy pigment on occasion remains in the highlights no matter
how long I
soak it, and I have to clear them with a very small brush.
