Ilford, at any rate for the UK, are in the process of revising their minimum
order policy downwards so it is possible to get any film type in their range
(only those normally cut for sheets) cut to any one size as 100 'running metres'
of film. Apparently they have run tests on using their paper cutting line for
sheet film which have been successful, hence the new policy. I'm still not quite
sure what a running metre means, but have been told that 100 would result in
either 7 boxes of 20x24" in 10's, about 10 boxes of 16x20" in 10's or 13 boxes
of A3 in 10's. This sounds quite realistic, so assuming a few people put their
hands up we're willing to order and stock several sizes at Silverprint (0171 620
0844). Please note this has been offered to us as a UK only facility- what
Ilford do in other territories is entirely up to the policy of the Ilford agent
for that country. Price in the UK should be pro-rata with normal sheet film
stock. The two films we would anticipate most demand for would be HP5 and the
new Ortho, (we already have Ortho in 10x12"/10 sheets).
