Yes, I recall (with a certain fear of the unfathomable) the discussion
about pigments!
The computer "interface" gives very limited feedback. It's not like
looking at a negative's contrast, handling a paper to judge it's surface
tooth, or watching an image "develop." It's the most plastic and
seductive environment I've ever known.
All in all, it's a tempting compromise--absolute control and
predictability vs. tangible interaction and the (possible) seredipity of
chance. It's a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the opposite. But I
don't know which is which!
