What kind of lamp should I buy for platinum prints and what kind of films
(8
by 10). I'm living in Belgium and I don't find neither the Sylvannia
Sunlamp
275w nor the Kodak SO-015 Direct Duplicating film. Could you please
indicate
me alternatives ? <

For the lamp try a Phillips HPR 125 which will give you a number of
wavelengths suited to a number of alternative processes . For the negative
material, if 10 x 8 is what you need, use Ilford FP4 which is the only film
that will do the job properly if you want to get a full range of tone for
platinum printing from in camera negatives. Anything else is a compromise.
If you are going for larger sizes Typon from Switzerland make good
graphic arts films. There is a new eqivalent from Berger which I saw in
Silverprint today.

I am surprised that the Direct Duplicating film is not available in
Belgium.
