For a saturated solution the ammonium salt has three times the strength of
the potassium salt.

But they are both perfectly safe if handled sensibly and with respect. Do
not breathe in the dust or use coating methods likely to produce droplets.
If you get any on your skin wash it off straight away.

There are more dangerous things in your garden shed or kitchen cupboard.
