The Health Hazard rating is described as "the danger of toxic effect a
substance presents if inhaled, ingested or absorbed." A rating of 4
definatly demands respect. However, any chemical 101522.2625@compuserve.com (even if rated 0)
should be handled appropriately. That is all.

That was just my point. One should treat all chemicals with respect. But
there are obviously degrees of 'extreme' here which is illogical and a
misuse of the language. Silver Nitrate and Hydrogen Sulphide are more
dangerous than Prussic Acid under certain circumstances. So are peanuts and
blue cheese. But as you imply yourself, describing them all as 'extreme,
makes no sense.

Certain persons use this misuse of 'extreme' to suggest that gum printing
is dangerous either to promote their own non dichromate processes or to
preserve the 'mysteries' to themselves.

But as John and Mike have pointed out, 'gummists' do not seem to suffer
too much from their enthusiasm.
