Palladium and Platinum Photographic Process
Instructor: Dr. David Hyman
Dates: Saturday and Sunday, April 12-13, 9-5pm
Basic fee: $80
The elegant and evocative images produced by the palladium and
platinum processes are characterized by a long and subtle tonal
range. The unique characteristics of both palladium and platinum
prints will be illustrated with examples of each. The workshop
will include darkroom demonstrations of how to make an enlarged
negative, hand-coating of paper with the light-sensitive chemicals,
and show how a palladium or platinum contact print is produced.
Techniques to control contrast and tone of the print will be
discussed. Students will be informed of sources of supply for
materials, equipment and chemicals. Saturday and Sunday sessions
will begin at the Crafts Center in the mornings and move to the
instructor's studio near the campus for demonstration.
The Crafts Center is part of North Carolina State University,
and if you are interested in this workshop, you can call them at
919/515-2457 between 2-5pm EST Monday-Friday to request a registration
form. Or you can write to them at The Crafts Center, Campus Box 7320,
NCSU, Raleigh, NC 27695-7320.
I noticed recently that someone else posted an announcement about
other workshops. I would appreciate it if others would post such
information if they have it.
