Meridel Rubenstein, a photographer here in Santa Fe, has been doing photo
etched glass. She has worked out a process with Rick Benson for putting a
colloidal resist on the glass, dichromating it and then developing it. So
far nothing fancy, but here's the interesting part: she uses a 2000 PSI
high pressure water sprayer like those used to clean garage floors and car
engines instead of the old steam cleaners to develop the resist. It does
not put out a firehose stream, more like a high speed mist. I can get more
details from here when she gets back to Santa Fe. She does the nasty stuff
in a chamber/box with window so as not to cover the darkroom in water. I
only know this part because we talked about setting up in my darkroom so
she could do her work here.

Rick is known for some very creative ideas, so I am wondering if this idea
might not work for gum, substrated of course. Whatever is breing used for a
resist could easily be pigmented and produce an image. Just a curious idea.

These gizmos cost about 300.00 American.
