Large Negatives

I would appreciate any help concerning options for large negatives
(30x40 or larger) for cyanotype or other processes.

It seems that there have been mixed comments on the list as to the
viability of digital negatives. One of the options available to me is
to drum scan original 8x10 negatives at 2,400 dpi. This would provide a
600 dpi 32 x 40 image. A large format ink jet is available to output a
300 dpi image. The original scan can be 8 bit or 12 bit greyscale.

The scanner available is very high quality, while the printer is a lower
end model that does color and greyscale. Could this combination possibly
provide enough quality?

I would actually prefer to create a large negative in the darkroom, but
have no idea what is used normally for film. The Lisa Gray article in
the January View Camera magazine gave a lot of good information on her
process, but did not identify the 30x40 film that is used.

Thanks in advance for the help. The information shared on this list is
great.
