Don't forget that Riston develops (dissolves) in sodium bicarbonate. A
really strong solution will even remove the UV-hardened stuff, so that if
you were to ink the intaglio image, say on wood, let the ink set up a bit,
and then plunge the whole thing into the soda bath, you may, I say MAY end
up with a rather nice photo on wood. And without that lovely blue
plastic.
Also, things like cyanotype and gum bichromate work just fine on wood, at
least the couple of times I have tried it.
