With a little thought, I bet you could make some 11x14 film holders w/
1/8 inch Luan plywood, black felt for the light trap and some means to
hold the film tight. It wouldn't cost much and you wouldn't need any
fancy tools. A 4x8 foot piece of plywood costs under $10. Plenty of
square footage to experiment. Some wood glue and spring clamps would
help. You can cut the plywood with a utility knife and smooth the edges
with some sandpaper. Use a standard film holder as a reference. for
$20-25 you could have a half dozen holders.
