Hello

Just to let you all have an update on the Spring Meeting.

The dates are now firm. Friday 6, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 June.

The main purpose of the exercise is to bring people of like mind together
to show their work either to the assembled company or in private
discussions.

The Friday and Saturday sessions will be in the lecture theatre at the
Royal Photographic Society in Bath

If there is demand we could arrange a communal meal for the Saturday night.

On Sunday I am arranging a trip to Lacock where we will have coffee in the
Fox Talbot Museum, thanks to Michael Gray, and then go to look at the
famous window in the long gallery in the Abbey where Fox Talbot's first
negative was made one hundred and sixty three years ago. Lunch in the Red
Lion and then, if people wish, on to Avebury.

There will be a number of point talks to give focus to the discussions. The
following are possibles:

1. The digital negative and alternative processes with Sil Horwitz and
Barny Cox

2. Alternative approaches to silver gelaltine, with leading professional
printers, and Polaroid with Alastair Laidlaw and Christine Marsden.

3. New developments in the chemistry of alternative processes centred
around Dick Sullivan's ziatype and Mike Ware's processes ( it is not
impossible that they both will be able to take part).

4. Equipment for alternative processes. Brushes, contact frames, Gloy and
so on.

5. The calotype and the salt print with Richard Morris and, perhaps,
Michael Gray .

6. Different Approaches to gum printing with Peter Frederick, Terry King
and, if she can be persuaded to leave New York in June, you know who.

7. Iron processes including platinum and kallitype

8. Gravure with polymer and aquatint.

9. Conservation matters

10 Carbon and variations.

11. Gravure

A number of people from France, Italy and the Netherlands have said thay
are coming. Is there anybody else who wishes to take part in the lead
discussions or who has other suggestions as to what might be included. ?
