The purpose of my exercise was to find a way of getting even coating of 20
x 24 pt/pd prints that would give a good d max and good separation in the
highlights and the shadows and subtle gradation overall..

We were trying different coating methods and different papers until we
found a combination that worked.

We found one. A lightly humidified ! % deionised ossein size.

We had achieved our objective, so we stopped looking.

This in no way is a reflection on the usefulness of research into
surfactants and their effects.

To answer your question we tried a number of commercial photographic
wetting agents, none of which seem to achieve our objective, so we took a
different route.
