First, Welcome back Judy.

All ideology aside; it just didn't seem right without you. I'm glad
you're back. A medium at once so intimate and so impersonal as an email
list must come as something of a surprise to most of us. I guess that I,
for one, find that exciting. I was once on another list where sparks
flew hot; it was one of the more incredible experiences of my life, and
one of the most rewarding.

Regarding the test between the Alps and the Epson, what was the test
variable? Was it to test resolution, tone seperation, or what? What
papers were used? My suspicion is that it may not really possible to
fairly compare the two, because it seems to me that they are entirely
different machines and lend themselves to very different uses. When I
get enough ahead, I will buy a new Epson, too. For now, though, I really
love the Alps and am very excited about trying it on some unusual uses.
As an ordinary printer it is very good, but for graphics it is
spectacular.

One thing that occured to me the other day is the possibility of
transferring the print to a sheet of clean copper. I bet it would be
make a passable photo resist to use with ferric chloride. Anybody tried
this?
