Terms for Off-Photographic Quality Work

Well, I know the subject line itself is not so right, but I am writing a
paper and need a term or some terms that is related to photographic work but
that the final results looks like they are not "regular" or "ordinary"
photograph (see I am looking for the terms even now).

What I mean is, for example, I have seen photos of slides projected to
textured glass, and the result looks like impressionistic oil painting, and I
have heard the term "painterly look." It is fine for that particular type of
images, but not all works are painterly. Some has drawing quality and are
sometimes described as "artistic" look, but I think that is not a good term
because it somehow implies that normal photography is not artistic. Maybe it
doesn't have that connotation although it literally has.

Gum printing or bromoil, to me, has a distinct look that is not 100%
photographic, painterly, or drawing like.

I have heard the term "pictorial look." What does that really mean?

English is not my first language, and I came to this country as an adult.
Although I have been here for 17 years, there are terms that I can understand
literally but not necessary all the connotation associated with them, so I
would appreciate it if you could suggest more terms related to this type of
work and maybe even some description or example of works.

I am not looking for a general or umbrella term. A collection of related
terms would be helpful too. Thanks a lot in advance!
