A vegetable form of gelatin is kanten, or agar-agar, made from seaweed. I
only know this from cooking. I have no information on its adhesion qualities,
chemical qualities, etc. It solidifies at room temperature, not requiring
refrigeration to set. It has gotten much more expensive with the advent of
the vegan lifestyle.

Meanwhile I've been asked a couple of questions about kosher gelatine,
such as am I sure it's vegetable. One person thought it was animal,just
made from ritually slaughtered animals.
