"gold toned" gelatin silver print

This weekend I attended the Friends of Photography auction in San
Francisco.
One of the prints sold was by a photographer named Robert Bourdeau, and
was described in the catalog as a "gold toned gelatin silver print".

It didn't look like prints that I have seen toned with the commercially
available Kodak gold toner. The image had an appealing shimmering metallic
look, and some of the highlight areas had a slight gold color. It really
stood out from the other silver prints nearby.

Is anyone on the list familiar with this person's work, or does this toning
technique sound familiar? Could this be a gold chloride formula?

I believe the photographer might be Canadian- the title of the image was
"Quebec, Canada" and was donated by Jane Corkin Gallery of Toronto.

Thanks in advance,

Tom Hawkins
