I have used the powdered albumen mainly for gum printing where it has never
given any problems as clearly there would be no silver sulphide.

But I have had no discernible problem with matt albumen printing.

Incidentally it is quite possible to coat albumen prints with a brush as
long as you load the brush well at each stroke and ensure that each stroke
is overlapped by the next.
