Also, when combining gum dichromate and cyanotype (on the same print)
the sizing weakens the color of the cyanotype. Should I size--if the
paper requires it--after I have printed the cyanotype image on it and
before the gum printing?

It is diffficult to say without knowing what the papers are. If you were
to use Bockingford you should be able to get four or five coats without
sizing. I have tried it with up to six and it works but for professional
use I size between coats with a 2 % size but there is no need for a first
size.
I have made gums on top of cyanotypes on Bockingford and the other way
round with no sizing and no problems from fading in either. If you are
concerned with other papers I would size on top of the gum and then apply
the cyanotype.
