I definitely agree with Doug: once you get a consistent albumenizing
method, the greatest variations in print contrast and color comes from
the sensitizing bath. The time you float makes quite a difference as
well.

As for the toner, definitely try the basic borax or thiocyanate toners
- use the formulas by themselves, not with Tetenal. It sounds like the
Tetenal is bleaching your print a bit too much (just a guess), and I
have no idea what's in it. I think the Berg protective toner is as
close to a "plain" gold toner as you can buy in a bottle.
