To all serious pigment printers on this List who do not know the secrets of
Fresson pigment printing,
There is only one person, I know of, who has really carried out
SUCCESSFUL research into a direct carbon gelatine system of photo printing
(akin to Fresson )........ ................and that is ME. However, I am not
ready, YET, to give away, or sell, or part with any of the secrets e.g. HOW
THE LATENT IMAGE IS MADE VISIBLE IN THE GELATINIZED SUBSTRATE WITH * NO* GUM
OR GELATINE CONTAINED IN THE SURFACE COATING OF PIGMENT or HOW THAT SURFACE
COATING IS NOT AFFECTED BY THE ULTRA VIOLET *** RADIATION*** WHICH IS
ACTUALLY ABLE TO HARDEN THE DICHROMATED SUBSTRATE THRU' THE CARBON SURFACE
COATING with no significantly long U V exposures needed.
But I feel it can only be virtuous and theraputic for everyone
to continue to practise hands on work trying to ACCIDENTALLY discover what
Artigue found in 1878.................how to make a direct photo print
without silver emulsion using carbon to reproduce the SPECIFIC gradation of a
negative image (Read Luis' book) But PULEEEEEZE stop refering to this
fascinating backwater of image making as FRESSON ! ! Let them, and others,
keep their secrets. Stop gagging on illusions and remember...........they may
look the same but......
All Hoovers are vacuum cleaners but all vacuum cleaners are
not Hoovers.
All Biros are ball point pens but all ball point pens are not
Biros.
I am slowly getting thu' the list of recipients for my free
sample I.C.I prints.
Keep them wagons rolling, folks.
Best Wishes . Photographist (London U.K.)
P.S.My book, " Badrinathans Dead Dog by The Dustbin," may be ready
by the end of the century. ( Who the hell is Badrinathan?)
