At dinner tonight, I mentioned to my wife that one of the current threads of
discussion on the alt-photo-process group was Anthotypes. She went to her
files, and brought out a 16 by 20 inch chart, showing what colors can be
obtained from various ground up flower petals, leaves, berries, bark, and
even dirt, all mixed with water.. This is a chart she made for one the
watercolor classes she teaches. The purpose of the exercise is to show how
to get pigments when you do not have your supplies with you, and the urge or
need to paint arrises.

Of particular interest is the degree to which some of the colors have already
faded, even with the chart stored in the dark. This is particularly true of
some of the lighter shades of colors, and of the reds. So it will be
interesting to further research the process.

I picked a bunch of geranium petals this evening, and plan to grind them up
later tonight. I have a "Positive Negative" I will try printing. It is an
unsharp mask that I made, and came out a little too contrasty.

Will let you know in a few weeks what happens.
