gloy and gum

I have been watching all the concern with gum or gum substitutes. Indeed,
glue may just be glue. But look at the per ounce cost of Gloy versus even
the bloated cost of big volumes of gum arabic obtainable from Daniel Smith
in Seattle or Photographers Formulary. I am inclined to follow the KISS
rule in matters photographical, as elsewhere. Keep It Simple, Stupid. If
one is not getting good results with commercial gum the chances are that
the problem is more easily resolved by looking at something else one are
(or are not) doing, rather than the gum. Karl Koenig
