Just to enter my two cents on this, having played with pinhole for many years, I've
found that the exact size of the hole is considerably less important then the quality
of that hole. I've tried many formulas, and they produce very similar results. A
small burr in the hole, however, will make for something completely different.

BTW, I have a listing of aperture values on my Web page using the formula:

R = V WCF

where R = radius of aperture
W = wavelength of light
C = constant
F = focal length

The images on my page are from pinholes sized from the formula.
