John I think you will find that my good friend Dennis Klinker is aware of
the Whiting Bromatype process

However the list maybe interested in a short piece I wrote a while back on
the process

THE WHITING BROMOTYPE
It is with sadness that I describe a further direct bromoil type process,
known as the whiting bromotype. Bill Whiting Who unfortunately died a few
years ago, who was a small man in stature, but a mighty champion of the
alternative photographic processes, an extremely well known judge and
lecturer on bromoil print making in club circles throughout the East
Anglain region. His dry wit and audacious puns were legendary, he ruffled
the feathers of many a judge on club nights, with anarchic comments like "
the old bugger needs glasses!" But everybody loved him all the more for it,
accept of course the poor judge who was the target of his devilish humour.

His process was based on the bromaliod process of the late F.G. Hawkins
FRPS, the print is made in the bromoil manner but after bleaching the print
matrix is redeveloped in a normal print developer until it is rendered back
to its original density, washed and dried thoroughly, soaked then inked up
with brush or foam roller in the same manner as a traditional bromoil.

First of all you will see no change and then gradually it will be noticed
that in fact the picture is undergoing a subtle change of contrast and the
colour of the image, will also move towards the colour of the ink employed.
It is useful to have an uninked print at one side for comparison. The
inking should continue until a distinctly bromoil quality becomes apparent.
This process is much easier than the traditional processes and has a
beautiful vibrant quality.

Another little quip of Bills who was a real eastend cockney, when he was
teaching some American students one time at Kingsway College one of the
girls said, "Gee Bill did you ever get married" and bill came back quick as
a flash " no my love but I wont die in Ignorance"
