Richard Sullivan's suggested starting test and the info that Judy Seigel
kindly shared with me in private e-mail both suggest that the formalin may
be directly replaceable with the same amount of glyoxal. Thanks to
everyone who gave suggestions and opinions. It may be a week or more
before I have the free time to continue with this new work, but I will try
the glyoxal on both hard (200 bloom) ,softer (Knox) gelatin (another
suggestion from Judy, I had always assume that the harder the better), and
the "manufactured with gelatin" Lanaquarelle paper and tell you all what I
find.
Most of the replies I received were as private e-mail??? I don't know if
this subject has been over discussed on the list (and thus people replied
off list) or if people have confusing e-mail systems like mine. Edora lite
will only send to the original poster (NOT THE LIST) if you simply hit
reply. I have to "cut and paste" the "ALT-PHOTO-PROCESS-L@skyway.usask.ca"
address into the " TO: " area. I should admit that I am far from an expert
at computers!! Seeing as many people can learn from other's questions, I
hate to see so many answers going as private e-mail and never showing up on
this list.
