Under the best of circumstances, reproductions are relatively poor compared
to originals. The surface texture is not there, etc. There is also a very
good chance that the prints you saw were not the same set reproduced in the
book. It is totally impossible to make two color (quadrichromie) Fressons
alike, for reasons detailed in several of my books. The prints reproduced
in the book may have looked very different from the ones you saw.
