Gene has certainly hit the nail on the head here.

For me, the only important thing is the final image. How it was achieved is
neither important nor relevant. I mean, would you ask a painter whether he
or she applied pigments with a size 2 brush or a palette knife and then
tell him them they were wrong if they happened to use a different technique
from that which the so-called experts considered correct? I think not.
