Vacuum easel

I just acquired a vacuum easel off a Nu-Arc process camera and wonder if
anyone has experience using one. I have two questions:
1) Does the glass affect the length of exposure; that is, does it filter
UV?
2) What is the best procedure for checking exposure on a platinum print?
Should I tape one edge so the registration doesn't shift when I inspect
it? Or will my times be consistent enough that I won't need to check it.
(A newbie platinum printer question.)
