One other thing occurred to me that I neglected to mention. A big
difference in price and a noticeable difference in flexibility come from
the lenses that accompany your medium format system. For example,
Hasselblad lenses generally have a built-in shutter. Normal Mamiya lenses
for the 645 do not. Mamiya does offer 55mm, 80mm, and 150mm
"lens-in-shutter" lenses, but they cost a lot. There is also an older
70mm lens-in-shutter lens for the 645 that must be recocked manually after
each exposure. (These are often found in used equipment sales.) When I
use my 645, it's this 70mm one that I use most for normal shooting. The
main advantage I can think of for the lens-in-shutter option is the ability
to synch a flash at any shutter speed. You can knock down the background
scene from noon-like to dusk-like and keep a foreground subject lit this
way. (I.e., you don't have to worry about focal plane shutter travel
clipping off your flash at one end of the frame.)
Good luck,
