Hallo,
One of my good intentions for next year is finaly start working on
a "new" box of 12 glass negatives I bought some time ago: " Gevaert
Gevapan 30 (speed is 30 Din or ASA?) 9*12 panchromatic anti-halo plates".
I want to expose them in an old Russian camera (A Fotokor) which can hold
these negs. Have to check the neg. holders and the bellow if they don't
leak light. The resulting neg's I would like to use for Albumin printing,
or cyanotype (depending on the final density I achieve).

I would appreciate some input on the following:

Any idea how old these glassplates are? Judging from the mere fact that
they are glassplates and that the brand name is Geveart Belgium (before
the fusion with the german Agfa): pretty old. That brings me to another
question. I presume that these plates will have built up a considerable
base-fog. Are there any chemicals which I can use to reduce this fog
(something you can add to your developper, I was thinking of using D76 to
start with). I also assume that the speed will be roughly doubled due
to it's age. And finally: which side has the emulsion, you simply "feel"
it in the dark?

Any feedback much appreciated, in order to waist as little plates as
possible!
