Rather, maybe it would be smart to get serious about planning the 1999
event so that it becomes an improvement over last years meeting.
Pick a location that is built and available. DON'T go with a location
that is planned for construction and/or is under construction even if one
of your parents 'PROMISED' it would be ready. I'm involved with
construction at times and there isn't much that is built and ready for
occupancy on schedule. In addition, you don't want to be the 1st users of
a new building anyway . . . a contractor saying its ready (something
about this and getting paid) and actually being finished can be many months
apart.
Schedule the thing and then let the participants on this list fill in the
program. The idea of an exhibit that would open (could have an opening
reception) with the apis event would be a nice touch.
Lastly, the great turn out at the 98 event was due to a dire lack of
events focused on alternative processes AND its location at the RPS AND
the Talbot trip. All three played into it.
