Probably "mercury toned". Would you be talking about Paul Strand's "Wall
Street"? After the workshop on the identification of prints at the Canadian
Centre for Architecture last fall we worked on this print. Certainly the
most expensive Pt print I have ever handled. They broke a world record when
they bought it in the 80s. Something around a quarter of a million dollars
if memory serves. The print was requested by one of the major museums in
NYC. Probably the MET or MOMA. Perhaps it is still there. Unfortunately, we
authorized a light level not exceeding 50 luxes, which is pretty dark to
appreciate any print. We use 400+ luxes when handling these prints in the
conservation lab but for brief moments only. It's nice to look at them in a
decent light though:)
