Hello..

I've just started using Amidol and I got some great results but I'm unsure
as
to how many prints a working solution can do? I am using a 1% solution of
Amidol..Benz...and Sodium sulphite.......the dilution my professor told me
(2
oz amidol to 1000ml of water) to use is rather weak and i had to strengthen
it. I went ahead and used a dilution of 50/50. Am i doing somehting wrong?
My books don't say much just recipes and mixing instructions. If anyone
can
give me some advice i'd appreciate it! Oh and I read that Ilford makes an
Amidol version? Does anyone know if this is true and if it is any better
than
the Formulary's Amidol?

Thankx again..
Astrid

I am not sure quite what formula your prof. has recommended.

Just mix up the 30g of sodium sulphite with, a small pinch of potassium
bromide and add 5 g of potassium metabisulphite to 500 ml of boiled water.
When they have dissolved in the tray scatter 4 g of
diaminophenoldihydrochloride ( amidol) over the surface and swoosh it about
a bit.

I have used this for three sheets of 10 x 8 film but I have never gone on
to see how many could be used.

If you are using it for paper leave out the bisulphite and the bromide.
