The reason you (and others) receive two copies of some messages, is
because you are being sent two copies of the same message.
This comes from using the "Cc" line of the mail header. Cc is for carbon
copy. When you fill an address in the cc line it tells your mail program
to send a copy of your message to the address(es) in the cc line in
addition to the address in the "To:" line.
If the alt-photo-process-l@usask.ca address is put in the cc line, the
message will be sent to everyone on the list in addition to the address
entered into the "to" line.
If the address used in the "to" line is subscribed to the list they will
get two copies of the message, one from the person who send the message,
the other from "the list".
The same condition results if the list address in used in the "to" line
and a subscribers address in the "Cc" line. The address used for the
"Cc"line will get two copies.
The Moral of this story?
Use the "Cc" line cautiously.
