Cheap chemicals.

Following on from the 'garden centre' list, I was told yesterday of an even
better source of chemicals which is the woodyard where one camn get cheap
dichromate and the fixings for potassium oxalate, oxalic acid and potassium
hydroxide (?).
Are there any other cheap combinations that people can recommend. I am
thinking of the needs of colleges and students with shallow pockets but
long arms.
