A chemical cross reference for obsolete names
of chemicals is available from Lindsay publications.
Their catalog claims to have over two thousand
chemical equivalents compiled into this guide many
dating back to the early 1800's.

Also, I thank whoever wrote the tip about salt and
vinegar for cleaning copper .
This worked quite well for preparing
copper plates for the plating bath I use for making
Daguerreotype plates. Now I understand where the
term "pickling" comes from in preparing metal surfaces.
