If the listerine (w/thymol) fails to work, perhaps you might try "a drop
or two (or three or four)" of either clove oil or camphor spirits
(available at health food and drug stores respectively). I seem to recall
some old-time photo manauls suggesting these as remedies against "mold
growth".
