Argyrotype is a wonderful process but as you quite rightly state, is very
paper specific. The colour, a rich mahogany, may be a little strident for
some subjects but can be cooled off somewhat by gold toning.

As for permanency, I have a number of Argyrotype prints that have faded
quite badly along the edges despite taking the utmost care during
processing and clearing! However, prints which have been toned with gold
are as good as new
