Glycine and glycin are two very different compounds. Glycine is (as you
note) aminoacetic acid, used as a nutrient. Glycin, the photographic
developer, is a substituted phenol, p-Hydroxyphenyl-aminoacetic acid. Very
confusing, those common names.
