Adam,
I would like to suggest using an airbrush to apply the gloss medium. Using
a brush allows brushstrokes no matter how fast the medium is applied
especially in dry climate. Then consider the size of the area you are
covering.
The airbrush can place a smooth, even, thin coat. Masks can be made.
Practice and find your own best.
Still, there is nothing like seeing the emultion wet and deep when it's
pulled from the bath.
