The longevity of RC prints is the subject of some controversy. There are
a couple of good papers about the problems on the web page of Thom Bell at:
http://members.aol.com/thombx19/home.html
  Thom is with Kodak's
professional customer service department.
Evidently, most of the trouble was caused by oxidation of the Titanium
Dioxide contained in the polyethylene layer just beneith the emulsion. A
scavenger is added to current papers to avoid this problem.
In general, there are a lot of conflicting statements in the literature
about the requirements for long life of silver-gelatin prints and
negatives. :-(
