Somewhere in the not too distant past, I saw some discussion of reactions in
Zia and said I would send them off to be analyzed by a chemist. The chemist
in this case is my aunt (Dr. Malmström), a professor of chemistry at Xavier
University. She responded to the message and I present it for you here,
although it beats me which posting contained the questions or puzzles.

Dear Eric,
I got the hint. I didn't answer your last e-mail. I have your Zia
formula reaction in my
hand right now. There is a question of a discrepancy in that all the
Cl
ions are not
accounted for. According to the reaction, there are 8 Cl ions on the
left side of the
equation and 8 Cl ions on the right side, so I don't see the
discrepancy. 8=8
I'm trying to check the molecular weight of the Ferric Ammonium Oxalate
but my
phone keeps ringing and I lose count of where I am so I'm going to
close
this note
now and pick it up with a new note as soon as I check the weights. Be
back
shortly. Sr. Mary Carl
